CPS 166 and Versatility

Enjoy the Ride is quickly becoming one of my favorite stamp sets. It is perfect for baby cards, cards for young children, teens, and adults-masculine as well as feminine cards. Perhaps best of all, it can even go vintage! That is what I chose to do today. I used the CPS sketch 166 as inspiration for this card. I first die cut the car and stamped the outline image in black. Then, I stamped the solid car image in versamark and used black Filigree embossing powder. I stamped the liscence plate on spring moss and cut it out and adhered it to the car. I also used Ranger's crackle accents on the windshield which I thought added to the vintage look. I finished off the car with some colored adhesive pearls and colored the bumper gray. The patterned paper (pp) is by October Afternoon and was the other inspiration for this card. I added ribbon around the pp and tied some black embroidery floss around it. I used Papertrey Ink's chamomile cube to ink the edges of the car and around the cream cardstock. I then used dimensional adhesive to adhere the car to the card front. This was such a fun card to make and a fun stamp set to play with!

What would I do..

This card took forever to complete-mostly because I kept changing it. I had first stamped the flowers all on the same panel. Then, I decided I didn't like that so I cut them apart. Then they each needed a mat, but I first had to cut them smaller so they would still fit on the card front. I ended up adhereing the orange and blue flower panels straight to the card and popped the purple one up on dimensional adhesive. I then tied a lovely, silky white bow around the bottom of the card but decided it was too fancy looking for the whimsical images. I took the white ribbon off and decided to go with a sentiment instead. I chose the sentiment from PTI's Friends til the End set. I wanted to make the sentiment multicolored to bring out the colors of the flowers and tried to use markers to achieve the look. However, the markers were not working-the image was too light and not very crisp. I decided to stamp the sentiment in different colors and just cut out the pieces I wanted and adhere them over the main sentiment. I like it, but I wonder...does it make it look a little ransom note-ish? LOL I then adhered the sentiment to a piece of ribbon, attached it to the card and was finally done. Oh, I also added some little rhinestones to the center of the flowers. Do you ever have a card like this that you just can't seem to get right?

CPS 165

Today (at the last minute) I decided to do a card for the CPS 165 sketch. I used one of the new Doodlebug lines called On the Go. If you haven't checked out the new lines by Doodlebug, you definitely should. They are too fun and are perfect for making cards for kids. This would make a cute congratulations card for a little boy-maybe for a kindergarten graduation or just for doing a good job throughout the school year. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and I want to wish all the Moms out there a Happy Mother's Day!

Simply Sublime

Today I have a card to share with you using some fun Amuse stamps. I love this little submarine stamp and sentiment. I like Amuse for their simple and cute designs. I, however, ended up doing everything but simple since I decided to paper piece everything on the card! LOL It was a fun card to make though, and I think the Joy Ride patterned papers by Cosmo Cricket work well with this submarine. I also used my Fiskars punch to do the water and my Creative Memories wavy cutter (don't think that is the official name) for the sand. Thanks for looking and I hope your day is "simply sublime"!

Cosmo Color challenge

Did you see Cosmo Cricket's new line called Delovely? It is very bright and springy and fun. To celebrate the new release, they are giving a way a Delovely crafting kit on their blog. There are a few ways to win, and one of those happens to be a color challenge...

I chose to use their Early Bird line which matches the color challenge perfectly. I also added some blue to my card, but since there are a few blue flowers in that picture on the right, I thought it might be O.K. The converstaion bubble came from thier Early Bird elements page. I knew when I first saw that bubble that I wanted to do something fun with it. By putting the couch and sentiment inside, I think it also says "I've been thinking about you" without actually saying it. (Does that even make sense to anyone but me?) Anyway, here is my card-don't you want to play along, too?!

Soaring by

I finally decided to use some of my new October Afternoon goodies. I always have a hard time using my favorite supplies. It seems the opposite would be true, but I tend to hoard my favorites. I always feel I need to save it for some super special project that I have yet to think of. I am finally deciding to enjoy my supplies and not just store them. On this card I used a few patterned papers from the Thrift Shop line and one from the Fly a Kite line. The kite and cloud stamps are from the Fly a Kite line as well. I paper pieced the stamped images and used dimensional adhesive underneath the kite to pop it up off the card. As usual, PTI had the perfect sentiment to finish off my card!

This second photo is the enhanced photoshop version. I was trying to lighten the pic up a bit, but it makes the ribbon look darken than it actually is.


On another note, I used my newly homemade light box to photograph the card above. I love the box! I need to make a few adjustments with my light source, but the light box eliminates all the shadows I was getting before. I am sharing a card today that I made quite awhile ago. I pulled it out the other day to take to a birthday party for a 5 year old boy. I like having some simple birthday cards on hand for those times when I remember at the last minute that we have a party to go to! :)
