Paper Smooches Picture Perfect Challenge

Welcome!  Today is the very first Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect challenge!  The Picture Perfect challenge will always begin on the 4th Monday of the month and be accompanied by an inspirational photo.

Here is the inspirational photo for this challenge.  Don't you love the color of that piano?!!

For my card, I took inspiration from the colors, patterns and layout of the photo.  Here is what I made:

(My cake is actually the same color as the piano from the inspiration photo IRL, but for some reason my camera doesn't translate the deep teal color very well!)

  I used several Paper Smooches stamp sets for this card.  I love to mix and match images from different stamp sets!  I used Hubby and Wifey, Hang Ups (hearts), Perpetual Bliss (let's), and Sugar Rush (celebrate).

Lawnscaping Challenge: Clean and Simple

 This week's challenge over on the Lawnscaping Blog is to go Clean and Simple.  This card is definitely simple.  I just stamped the drum, colored it and added a bit of stickles around the drumsticks.  I kept wanting to add some texture or pattern to the pink card base, but since the challenge is to keep it clean and simple, I just decided to leave it plain.  I mounted my focal point with some dimensional adhesive and added a simple ribbon and some buttons.

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge-Designer Drafts

                     Hello! Welcome to the first Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts challenge!

Here is the sketch we are working with this week:

As soon as I saw this sketch, I had an idea to make a Hawaiian lei card.  First, I wrapped twine around my card base in the same pattern as the sketch.

Then I stamped, cut and colored about 15 flowers using the Get Outta Town stamp set by Paper Smooches (only after all that did I decide that I only wanted to use 8 of them!).  I added some liquid pearls to the flowers and then punched a tiny hole in the center of each flower.  I then cut between two of the petals (on each flower) up to the center hole so I could string the flowers on my twine.  To help fill in the area between the flowers, I added some adhesive pearls to the twine. I did have to put a mini glue dot on each of the pearls to make them stick to the twine-they weren't quite sticky enough on their own.  The Aloha sentiment was made using Alphadot.   I was going to stamp the sentiment directly on the card, but instead I stamped it on another piece of paper, trimmed it, and popped it up with some dimensional adhesive so it would stand out a little more.  Here is my finished card:

Make It Monday

The challenge this week over on the Papertrey blog is to make a background pattern using patterned paper scraps.  To make my patterned background, I chose to use scraps from my PTI 2008 Bitty Dot Basics pad and a Creative Memories hexagon punch that I had forgotten I even owned!  I then used PTI's Sweet As Can Be stamp set to create the ice cream cone focal point.  I decided to keep the focal point simple since the background is so busy.

Good Afternoon!  There is an "Anything Goes" challenge going on right now over at the Simon Says Stamp blog and guess who their sponser is...Paper Smooches!  You don't have to use Paper Smooches stamps, but since I just so happen to have a "few" I decided to play along.  For my card I used the stack of suitcases from Get Outta Town and stamped the little hamster from Party Posse on top.  I then stamped the camera image from Perpetual Bliss on shrinky dink paper and shrank it (I actually looked up the correct use of the word shrank/shrunk) down so it is now the perfect size for hammy.  The background paper is a beautiful piece from October Afternoon's Boarding Pass collection.  I actually like that  piece so much that it kinda hurt my feelings a little bit to cut it up! : )  The inside of the card says "go to your happy place". 

Here is a close up of the camera.  Last time I used my shrinky dink paper, I had several people say they had never heard of it.  Would anyone be intrested in a tutorial for the shrinky dinks?  Let me know what you think.  Thanks for stopping by today!                                                                                                   

Exciting News!

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the PTI blog hop! Anyone can enter this hop, but it only lasts for 1 day.  If you are interested in playing along, head on over to Nichole's blog to get the details.  The challenge for this hop is to use the following picture as inspiration:

I chose to make a gift card holder using my Seed Packet die. It is the perfect size to hold a gift card! For the opening I used the Mat Stack 1 die. I used my Rosie Posie stamp set to jazz up the front of the holder and added a sentiment from Little Labels.  I did adhere a piece of clear transparency to the inside of the  packet so that the gift card won't fall out the front.

Here is a picture of the holder with a gift card inside.  This particular gift card kinda detracts from the packaging, but it is the only one I had on hand.  Have a great day and enjoy the hop!
