The challenge this month for the PTI blog hop is to use tissue paper. As soon as I read this challenge, I knew what I would do...go back to Kindergarten. : )The technique I used (if it can be called a technique) was something I learned to do in Kindergarten. I remember making many ornaments with tissue paper in Kindergarten-one of which I still have and it hangs on our tree every year! First, cut the tissue paper into small sqaures and add a layer of glue (I just used Elmer's)to the area you want to cover. Then, take a piece of tissue paper and wrap it around the eraser part of a pencil (in this case, I used the end of a paintbrush because the area I was working with was so small). Last, use the pencil to stick the tissue paper in place.I thought this would be the perfect way to make fluffy clouds for this card.
I had decided days ago that I would make the above card for the blog hop. Then, I was sitting in church to day and my daughters dress inspired me to make a second card. Here is her dress:
I thought the sheer ruffle on the hem of the dress would translate well into a tissue paper ruffle. The ruffle turned out fine, but it was a little lighter black than the ink and ribbon, so I decided to add Shimmerz paint (in pixie dust) to the tissue paper to give it some shine and darken it up a bit. The problem is, the Shimmerz paint makes the tissue paper look more like a plastic garbage bag than sparkly tissue paper. Who knew that would happen?! Ha Ha. Here it is anyway....
I hope you enjoy my cards and the rest of the blog hop! Thanks for stopping by!
