Sparks Cool Shades

Check out this fun color combo.  It is from the May Paper Smooches Sparks-Cool Shades Challenge.  I didn't get a chance to play along with this challenge while it was still live, but these colors are too good to pass up!

I used Smarty Pants and Get Outta Town (both Paper Smooches sets) to make a fun travel themed card.  I even broke out my We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy stitch maker. It is such a fun little tool and it saves me from having to drag out the sewing machine!  Thanks for stopping by today!

colourQ #142

I have checked out the colourQ blog several times and finally decided to play along.  Only problem is that I didn't pay attention to how long the challenge ran and when I went to post my card it was already closed!

Here is the inspirational pic from the previous challenge:

The stamp set I used is from C.C. Designs called Summertime Fun.  I have had this set for quite awhile, so I don't even know if it is still available for purchase.  I think the swimming kitty is adorable, but my 8 yr. old daughter just looked at it and said, "Why would a cat swim?   Cats hate water."  Haha

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Picture Perfect

Welcome Paper Smooches fans!  It is time for another Sparks Picture Perfect challenge!
Here is the inspirational photo we are working with this week:

When I saw this photo, I knew I wanted to use the cupcake image from Sugar Rush.  I added Liquid Applique for the icing and paper pieced the wrapper.  I added a little flag to my cupcake using the small banner image from Hang Ups and made a little stick for my flag using the telephone pole image. Last I stamped the heart from Friendly Flowers, cut it out and added it to my flag.  The sentiment is also from the Sugar Rush set.

If you would like to play along with us this week, head on over to the Paper Smooches Sparks blog and get all the details.  The winner gets a $30 gift certificate to the Paper Smooches store!  But first, check out what the other members of the design team created!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Paper Smooches Sparks-Cool Shades

 So here's the story:
First, I saw this group of colors for the Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades challenge. This group of colors is called PB&J.
Then, I saw the following fabulous card made by my fellow Sparks DT member Kasia.
Which reminded me of this picture that I saw on Tamara's blog awhile back.
And all of that inspired me to make this card:

I did a bit of masking to make the peanut butter and jelly (made using the egg from Paper Smooches' Wake Up stamp set) and the sentiment (made with Get Outta Town and Alphadot).  The toast is also from the Wake Up set and the hearts are from the Hang Ups stamp set.  You still have a few hours to play along with this challenge if these colors inspire you, too!  Thanks for stopping by.

Lawnscaping Challenge #36

This week my daughter wanted to take a turn and play along with the Lawnscaping Challenge.  Here is the card she made:
She came up with this card and made it all by herself.  She is very independent and even likes to photograph her own cards!  She found the bow and the banner in my "scraps" bucket and paired them with the cute little hamster and sentiment.  I think she did a great job putting everything together.  She would love to hear what you think about her card!

Heroes Card Drive

Hi everyone!  I wanted to spread the word that Lawnscaping is hosting a Heroes card drive.  They are collecting handmade cards (blank on the inside) that our troops can send back home to their family members!  This is a wonderful opportunity to show our troops how much we love them and appreciate their service.  For more information on how you can participate in this card drive, please visit the Lawnscaping blog or Laurel Beard's personal blog.  Spread the word!

Happy Father's Day

I know I am a few days late, but I forgot to share this card on Father's Day.

I kept the main panel pretty simple since the background paper has a lot going on. The shirt was made using the Paper Smooches' Smarty Pants set.  I just stamped the professor and then cut out the shirt portion of the image.  The hanger is from Hang Ups and the sentiment was made using Alphadot-both from Paper Smooches.  The patterned paper is from the new October Afternoon 9 to 5 collection.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Lawnscaping Challenge #35

Time for another Lawnscaping Challenge! (If you are looking for my Paper Smooches Sparks post, scroll down to the post below!)  This challenge is all about using patterned paper and I have tons of that!   I tend to save my favorite pieces and not use them.  I know this is silly and I should be enjoying by paper rather than storing it!  So for this challenge, I broke out my October Afternoon Sasparilla deck and used 5 different pieces on my card!
I paired the patterned paper with the unicorn (made into a horse-I got the idea from Yainea) from Lawn Fawn's Critters Ever After.  I also used Lawn Fawn's Bannerific and Claire's ABC's to make a fun sentiment.  The cacti and ground stamps are from Travelscapes by Market Street Stamps, and the bandana was drawn by hand.

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Designer Drafts

Hi and welcome back for the 2nd Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts challenge.  Are you enjoying the sketches as much as I am?!

Here is the sketch for this week:
I used the Paper Smooches Happy Camper stamp set to make the following card.  I just love the deer the  that is included in this set.  I added googly eyes to make him even more fun.  Since I used several different colors of patterned paper ( Nutmeg by Cosmo Cricket), I kept the rest of the design pretty simple.

We would love to have you play along with us this week, but first check out what the other design team members made:

Thanks for stopping by today!  Now head on over to the Paper Smooches Sparks blog to play along!
